North Jersey Hitting

Fall Ball Rules - Minors (8-/9-year olds)

We are using the regular season rules as described in the "Williamsport Little League Inc." rule book with the following modifications agreed to by a representative of each league.
- Each pitcher can only pitch 2 innings per game. One pitch thrown to a batter constitutes an inning pitched.
- Pitchers can pitch consecutive days. This will allow the teams that play on Friday nights a chance to be competitive both Friday and Saturday.
- Pitcher will have to be removed after hitting three batters in one game.
- Every child attending the game will be in the batting order (all players bat).
- All players attending will play at least 3 innings in the field.
- There is a three out or five run limit per team per inning rule.
- There is NO ten-run rule. If a game gets real ugly, have common sense and shut off the scoreboard. Remember it is about the kids playing ball.
- THIS RULE APPLIES TO ALL FOLLOWING RULES. A runner on third base CAN NEVER STEAL or advance on a throwing error from third to home. The runner on third is "locked" there until he or she is advanced by a hit ball or forced by a walk, hit batter etc..
- There is a limit of one base stolen at a time by a base runner. The base runner can not advance again until another PITCH is thrown. The base runner can not advance on an over throw when stealing. Simply, the runner gets one base and stops.
- Multiple base runners can steal at the same time (i.e., first steals second while second steals third).
- Base runners CAN ADVANCE on an over thrown ball from catcher to pitcher.
- There is a 2-hour time limit on the games (i.e. can not start an inning after 2 hours. Use common sense, considering time and temperature on this with the night games.
